Some driveway drainage problems cannot be corrected by surface grading alone. When water needs to cross beneath a driveway or move through an existing ditch, a culvert or cross-drain may be part of the solution.
Depending on site conditions, work may include replacing a damaged culvert, improving inlet or outlet flow, tying the pipe into existing ditches, shaping surrounding drainage, placing rip rap for erosion control, and restoring gravel after excavation.

Not by itself. New gravel can restore lost material, but recurring washouts often return if water is still running across, down, or beneath the driveway incorrectly. Grading, ditch work, culvert improvements, or other drainage corrections may also be needed.
